Snatched

The kidnapping of a young girl puts a small town police force on high alert. A little girl is kidnapped from her home. A harrowing search gets underway in hopes of finding her before she’s killed. Police know time is of the essence. The story is about the little things that go right and the inspiration a victim can provide decades later, without ever knowing about it.

Engine 5

The firefighters of Engine 5 get called to a house fire. As the trucks pull up, they realize they’re being shot at. As they retreat, cops get called in. Meantime, two more houses catch fire as offices try to find the shooter in the shadows. Det. Justin leads the investigation. Officers Andy and Robert look to save the day.

Cover Now!

In recognition of National Police Week, the team sit down with the founder of Cover Now, which supports injured police and their families.

Retired Detective Jeff wanted to do a daily push-up challenge to raise money for a national agency that provides services to law enforcement families in need. When he discovered there was no such organization, he started one called the Cover Now Fund. The Small Town Dicks team sits down with friend and actor Kevin Pollak, who is on the board of Cover Now and its founder, Det. Jeff, to discuss their work in providing outreach to first responders in need.

The Imposition

A mother gets home to find her infant Mariah’s head lolling from side to side when she holds her in her arms. The mother asks Mariah’s father, who had been looking after the baby, “What happened?!” He says he doesn’t know and that the child was fine when he put her to sleep. The parents rush Mariah to the hospital and, when the doctors examine her, they immediately call the police to investigate. 

Jekyll & Hyde

A woman is found dead on her couch, a gun by her side. It appears maybe she shot herself in the head. More than a decade later a woman is found dead in her bed, a gun nearby. What did they have in common besides the manner of death? A man who stalked the first woman and married the latter. Investigators are able to tie the two shootings together and arrest the doc for murder.

Discarded

A family finds the dead body of a woman on a remote logging road. It’s wrapped in a blanket. Police at first don’t know what happened, though foul play is suspected. They figure out who the victim is and then find her boyfriend, who happens to be in jail for a separate assault. Despite thin resources, detectives begin to build a case.

The Grudge

Chris’s house is burglarized while he’s at a music festival. When police arrive they see that his outdoor security camera lines have been cut. Turns out the crime was committed by his former roommate because Chris stole his former roommate’s girlfriend. We later find out that the suspect is also wanted in conjunction with a home invasion where his DNA ends up at the scene of the crime because he got hit in the head with the muzzle-end of a shotgun and it took out a chunk of his skull.

Impact

Detective Dan is called to the scene of a hit and run, but when he gets there the body of the victim is nowhere to be found. As he interviews witnesses and the victim’s son, he realizes there’s nothing routine about this accident, and the callousness of the perpetrator is shocking even to a seasoned cop like him.

Fair Game

Police get a 911 call from a man named Brad who says he fears for his safety after an older man, William, has hit the back of his truck. While Brad is still on the phone with police, he claims William is advancing on him and pulls the trigger on his rifle. The bullet strikes William in the head and kills him. When Sgt. George is called out to the scene, he learns that Brad is a 30-something, UFC-trained fighter, and former military sniper, while William, ‘Brad’s aggressor,’ is a boozy 60-year-old. Something doesn’t add up.

Pariah

The following episode discusses a child pornography investigation however, no specific narratives of the images will be shared. In this case, Detective Dave walks us through his investigation of two online predators who were sexually exploiting children online and how multiple agencies around the country work together to try to keep children safe. Of the 6+ years Dave spent investigating sex crimes and child abuse, these two cases, in particular, got under his skin and changed him forever.

Zero Hour

Captain Terri returns to Small Town Dicks with a case that involves the same home where Billy, from S4 E11’s Bitter End, lived. This time she finds three young children alone in the house who say their older sister is missing and their parents are lying dead upstairs. Beyond that, the kids aren’t talking, so Captain Terri gets to work putting the pieces together.

Live Show with Paul Holes and Small Town Dicks

On November 4th 2018, the team of Small Town Dicks appeared in their first ever live show at the Death Becomes Us true crime festival. While Detectives Dan and Dave remained concealed off-stage on mics, Yeardley and Zibby sat down with investigator Paul Holes to interview him on his 24 yearlong investigation into the Golden State Killer case. The Golden State Killer was one of the most prolific predators in U.S. history. He was a serial killer, rapist, and burglar who committed at least 13 murders, more than 50 rapes, and over 100 burglaries in California from 1974 to 1986. This is a recording of that live show which was produced by D.C.’s Brightest Young Things and held at the Lisner Auditorium in Washington D.C.

No Good Deed

On a routine visit to check on his elderly father, Murray, Paul discovers him laying in his bed. Dead. Murray had a history of falling, so it’s possible his death was an accident. But the unusual position of Murray’s body on the bed prompts Paul to call 9-1-1. Fan-favorite, Lt. Scott, returns to Small Town Dicks with a case about a string of bad decisions that lead to the deepest form of betrayal. All for the price of some marijuana and donuts.

45 Seconds

Molly was a senior in high school. Trevor was her slightly-older boyfriend who’d already graduated. While Molly was well-liked and social, Trevor was more of a loner and could be possessive. It was the source of their on-again-off-again relationship. One night, as the two walked home from a party thrown by several of Molly’s friends, a car full of passersby placed a frantic 9-1-1 call to police, then found themselves rendering aid to Molly as she lay bleeding on the sidewalk.
